Ann and Sophie Cape
16 June – 5 September
An Unending Shadow is an exhibition of artworks by prominent Australian mother and daughter artists, Ann and Sophie Cape. Together they have made new artworks in response to their shared experiences of having a relative living with dementia and its impact on their day-to-day lives and artistic practices.Australia, like much of the developed world, has an ageing population and conditions like dementia and Alzheimers disease are becoming more widespread but still little talked about and discussed in public. As such this has been a personal journey for the artists who have created a series of challenging artworks on the theme. Together their artworks not only respond to the impact of dementia within their family, but shine a light on these health issues and bring them further into the public domain to encourage dialogue about their broader impacts within society.
