Exhibition Opportunity 2026

Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is committed to supporting new work by artists. As part of this commitment, we are offering two funded exhibition opportunities at the Gallery from 10 October – 21 Nov 2026. An exhibition grant of $4000 will be offered, to cover all production costs and artist fees. The Gallery will cover installation, marketing and public program costs. This opportunity is for new work that has not been shown elsewhere. It may include elements of existing works if they are brought together in a new way. This opportunity is suitable for individual artists, collaborations and small group shows. 

Exhibition opportunity #1 for Shoalhaven based artists

Exhibition grant of $4000 for an exhibition in Access Gallery (total floor space 40sqm) 10 October – 21 Nov 2026. This opportunity is for an artist based in Shoalhaven LGA working in any medium. Access Gallery has white walls and is a walk-through space. 

Exhibition opportunity #2 for all artists

Exhibition grant of $4000 for an exhibition in North Gallery (total floor space 44sqm) 10 October – 21 Nov 2026. This opportunity is for any artist working in any medium that suits a black box. North Gallery has black walls, ceilings and floors and is suitable for video projections or other works that sit well within a black box.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the gallery and look at the spaces before applying.  We will work closely with the successful candidates to present an exhibition that is true to the artists’ vision within the space and equipment available at the Gallery. We have short and long throw projectors, lupa players, screens and speakers, however there are other artists exhibiting during this time, so equipment will be shared and may need to be borrowed or hired from the budget advertised. Please outline your ideas and technical needs in the application, and we will work with you to help realise your project, if selected. Applications open 10 December and close 1 February, applicants informed by the end of February.

Susi Muddiman is the newly appointed Director of Ngununggula. Previously, Muddiman served as Director of the award-winning Tweed Regional Gallery where she spearheaded the redevelopment of the prestigious Margaret Olley Art Centre. Other positions include directorships of Grafton Regional Gallery and Wagga Wagga Art Gallery. 

Zanny Begg is the Director of Shoalhaven Regional Gallery and an award-winning artist and curator. Zanny was awarded the 2023 Create Australia Visual Arts Fellowship and the 2024 VAC Commissioning Grant. She is  the winner of the 66th Blake Prize Established Artist Residency 2021, the 2018 winner of the inaugural ACMI and Artbank film commission, the 2016 winner of the Incinerator Art Award, Art for Social Change, the 2016 winner of the Terrence and Lynnette Fern Cite Residency Paris; and was chosen by Werner Herzog to attend his Rogue Film School, in Munich, 2015.
